Learn additive methods, the use of armatures, how to hollow, reassemble, and finish your sculpture. Live models allow the student to study proportion and movement. Learn to translate two-dimensional sketching to three-dimensional modeling. Translate physical detail and emotion from a live model to sculpture. Materials List Stone CarvingRick RollenhagenSaturday, 7pm to 9:30pmSession 1 or 2 • Levels 1-5Course code 1313This class will teach the basic steps and techniques of carving a sculpture out of alabaster stone. Students will receive step-by-step instruction on using the reductive method (removing stone to achieve a desirable shapes) and learn the use of a variety of hand tools, including chisels, files, and rasps. Students will learn the process of finishing and polishing the rough stone into a beautiful surface. Students must purchase a first-time starter kit for $100. Materials List |
